How to Ensure A Cohesive Project Vision When You're Working With Multiple Creatives
If you've ever worked on building a large eCourse or Brand + Website Project, hiring everyone from a Designer to Photographers to Copywriters to Developers, then you'll know how hard it can be to keep everyone on the same page when it comes to the vision for the project, but also just the timelines and general management.
As a Designer I've had a lot of experience helping my clients manage projects like this, so I have a few tips on how you can make it work, if you're looking at taking on a big project soon!
Start with the Designer.
If you’re hiring a whole bunch of people for one project — let’s say you’re building a big eCourse — typically it’s the Designer who’s going to use all elements, from the Photography, to Copywriting, to Videos.
If you start with the Designer first, they might also be able to recommend other people they've worked with before that could be a good fit for the project.
And the other good thing about hiring people that already know each other — they know how to work together. They understand each others' process, so the learning curve is a lot smaller than it would be if you're all new to each other.
Creating Inspoboards is part of the Graphic Design process, so once you have an initial inspoboard from your Designer, send it over to your other team members so they can get a visual on the vibe you're going for.
Use Project Management.
A Project Management app means all correspondence for the project sits within one place, instead of in your Inbox. It allows you to create different boards + areas of the project, and chat to each person as needed.
This allows for streamlined communication and easy-access to all files, rather than shit-loads of emails with CC's a-plenty, and the chance of them getting lost or forgotten about easily.
Be sure to keep everyone updated along the way (but don't go overboard).
As you move through the different parts of the process, send updates of the deliverables to everyone involved.
For example, once you get your final photos back, send them to the Designer and Videographer.
But also keep in mind that you don't need to go overboard here. Only include people where they need to be.
