Just Keep Showing Up
It’s been almost 4 years to the day that I quit my 9-5 job to become fully self-employed. I still remember leaving the office for the last time, like it was yesterday…
And I remember driving to the beach to chill-the-fuck-out because I was absolutely shitting myself. I had no idea what I was doing… It felt equally amazing and scary, but I knew I had to go for it. I knew I had to get out and create my own life — instead of just sitting around doing what was expected.
That was such a stressful and exciting time in my life, but I knew that if I just followed the stuff that got me stoked, it would be okay. And sure enough, it was. Four years in… and here we are! I’ve been reminiscing on that time a little lately — as I’ve been feeling that equal amount of excitement and fear again.
I’m balls-deep in a Wordpress membership website and payment systems and sales pages and content creation and all things Be Unmistakable at the moment, and I’ll be honest with ya — it’s hella stressful.
Some days I love the hustle, and some days I hate it. But this is what I keep coming back to on the tough days…
I have to ask myself, is this thing I’m working on (that’s causing the stress and craziness) going to take me closer to where I want to be? Does this align with my overall vision?
If the answer is yes, you have to just keep showing up.
Show up at your desk (or wherever you work from) every day, and do the work.
Turn on some of your fave tunes real loud.
Use AntiSocial to block social media… Or just turn off your computer and put your phone on airplane mode.
Have a stash of your fave snacks on hand…
And do the work.
It ain’t about being perfect. It’s about starting where you are.
It’s about knowing your vision, and WHY you’re in this.
Just keep showing up.
Just keep showing up for the necessary work it will take to get to where you want to be.
We’re all on our own journeys and we have our own visions and goals, but we’re in this together… The hustle. The pursuit of the stuff that sets our souls on fire. We’re in it together.
You got this. We got this.
