Workshop 1 —

Brand Design —
Brands Worth Noticing

Brand Design is the strategic art of crafting an entire experience, and to do it really fucking well, you’ve got to go deeper than just making things look cute and consistent. In this workshop, we’re taking a fresh look at Brand Design, with behind-the-scenes peeks at some of my fave client projects and what it took to create unique, aligned brands that stand the test of time.

What you’ll learn —

  • The best ways to remain cohesive across a multi-faceted brand (we’re going deeper than just ‘be consistent with your branding’, because I know you already know that shit)

  • How to build out your Brand Design beyond just selecting fonts and colours, because thats where the real depth & soul comes into play

  • Specific ways (with examples) to craft a style of your own without ripping people off, so you can create a visual language that’s truly all yours, and not just based on trends and what everyone else is doing

What you’ll create —

  • A brand style guide, using the exact template I use for my clients. This isn’t just your classic guide with colors and fonts (though they’re included). We’re diving deeper to craft a brand with real depth. You’ll create your guide using a Canva or Adobe InDesign template I’ve prepped for you.

The Workshops

Workshop 2 —

Layout Design —
Break The Grid

Trends come and go, but the fundamentals of kick-ass layout design are forever. Build a deeper understanding of hierarchy, balance, and spacing in design — so you can make everything flow just right when you’re designing anything from Instagram posts to posters. Layout design is in EVERYTHING, so the skills you’ll learn in this workshop will come in handy no matter what you’re working on, including Branding & Websites!

(This is going to be a super-mini version of my bigger layout design course, Layout Legends, that’s launching in the Fall).

What you’ll learn —

  • Simple layout techniques for when you don’t know how to design from a totally blank screen

  • Tips for creating totally fresh layouts and not always falling back on the same old (boring) shit

  • How to dial in your font size hierarchy, and sizing of all of your content within your designs

  • Knowing ‘how much is too much’ when it comes to adding elements (like images, text, and illustrations) to your designs

What you’ll create —

  • A small layout (or series), either for yourself, or a client. You’ll choose from options such as a free PDF download, email graphics, and an Instagram Carousel, and we’ll be working in Canva (cause it’s easy & everyone has access to it!)

Workshop 3 —

Squarespace Design —
Websites Done Different

Craft cool, unique, layered websites in Squarespace from a totally blank page, without the need for any code (yes, it’s possible). I’ve been building websites in Squarespace for almost 10 years, and this is going to be a hands-on workshop showing you some of the specific designy techniques you can use to build fresh sites that have real depth & soul to them — because we’re sick of boring, flat, blocky Squarespace sites, right?!

What you’ll learn —

  • How to design website pages that flow, where the content naturally moves from section to section (without it feeling like a typical, boring, blocky-AF Squarespace site)

  • Specific tips and tricks for creating layered, soulful designs in Squarespace WITHOUT the need for code

  • How to display large amounts of info in a way that’s actually engaging so people want to read through the whole page, and buy whatever it is you or your clients offering

What you’ll create —

  • A functional, fresh home page inside Squarespace Fluid Engine. You will need a Squarespace site, (either paid, or a free trial site) for this workshop. If you don’t currently have one, send me an email after you sign up and I’ll hook you up with a free 6-month trial. (If you sign up directly on Squarespace it’ll only be a 14 day trial).

Here’s what’s waiting for you —

You’re a designer bored with your work, looking to learn fresh techniques and get a behind-the-scenes look at another designer’s process (‘cause you know how helpful it is).

You’re down for chill, practical learning over the summer, on your own time, without live events or spending hours at your computer every week.

You’re done-zo with workshops that leave you hanging with no real, actionable techniques or solid outcomes.

You’re a biz owner DIY-ing your designs, tired of half-assing it and feeling LOST AF creating from scratch—whether it’s Instagram posts, email graphics, websites, or workbooks.

You’re pissed off with design templates and wonder why your designs look like shit compared to the mockups (you know it’s because you need to fill those skill gaps).

You want to learn design with me but aren’t sure if you can afford a bigger, more in-depth course right now.

I’ve bloody love design. There’s something about bringing together different elements, from imagery to words to illustrations, and making it all make sense, giving it balance & harmony, creating a piece you can’t help but take a second look at and think, 'fuck, that’s good.'

Beyond just making things look cool, graphic design gives these elements a bigger purpose; it has a job to do, to get a point across, or to make people pay attention.

This series of workshops is some of the most practical stuff I’ve ever made — because we’re not here to mess around, and I want you to walk away with real, actionable techniques and new design tips you can bring to your work.

It’s gonna be a good time. So, you wanna come learn design with me??

Customer love for some of my other offerings…

“I can say with 100% certainty that Sian’s courses are the real deal. I have taken two from her and both times I have been impressed by the content, knowledge, and skills she possesses. She has a way conveying information in a digestible way and she shares so much value. I’ve always walked away learning so much.”

— Hayley Cole

“I've taken your courses before, love your work, not only your design style and outlook but how much you over-deliver, and knew The Stash would be such as great investment for my business and development as a creative. Your design style is beyond anyone in the industry and I'll never stop complimenting you for it! You're the bomb Sian. ”

— Naomi Chambers

“I appreciate all the value that you have shared, that I wasn't expecting in addition to the course content, its been fabulous and really helped with my confidence as a designer moving forward. I realised at the end of the course that there is so much of the same-same going around, that I really have to put my blinkers on from the competition and just follow my heart and do me. Thank you so much!”

— Emma Lodge

FAQ

FAQ

  • Individual Workshops — No, these will not be for individual sale. They're only available inside the Club.

  • You could grab a free Squarespace trial site for this workshop and follow along with the design tutorial. If you join the club, I can hook you up with a 6-month trial—just shoot me an email. This way, you can see what Squarespace can do WITHOUT any coding and also get the most out of the workshop to expand your website design skills without any real commitment to the platform.

Even if you're not into Squarespace, you'll still get a lot out of the workshop since we'll talk about website design as a whole (of course also alongside more Squarespace-specific tips). You could also follow along using your own website platform, but you'll need to know how to recreate the designs there.

But hey, since it's a Squarespace workshop, you'll get the most out of it if you use Squarespace, even if it's just a trial site.

  • The short answer is no, not really, aside from the Squarespace workshop.

I don’t believe the ‘tools’ we use are half as important as the actual skills, experience, and techniques we can learn and possess — because when you are a good designer it doesn’t matter what platform you are using.

Almost all of the things we are going to talk about throughout this workshop series can apply to any app, because that’s the stuff that’s hopefully going to stick with you.

However, the Squarespace workshop will cover a lot of specific tools and techniques inside Squraespace for creating sick, fresh websites with soul.

  • No, you don’t need an Adobe Subscription for this series. We’ll mostly be using Canva (because everyone knows how to use Canva, whether you’re a designer or not) Squarespace, but you can use Adobe InDesign if you like. Here’s the breakdown of the apps we’re using —

Brand Design — This will come with a template for both Canva and Adobe InDesign, the main tutorial will be for Canva.

Layout Design — We’ll be working in Canva for the design tutorial, but you can also use Adobe InDesign here (or any other design program you’re comfortable with).

Squarespace Design — Obvs this will be in Squarespace, you will need a Squarespace subscription, (either paid, or a free trial site) for this workshop. If you don’t currently have one, send me an email after you sign up and I’ll hook you up with a free 6-month Squarespace trial website that you can use!

  • These workshops are brand new, so even if you’ve taken some of my other courses or mini-masterclasses, these will be different, and totally fresh.

They’re split into two parts, the first part is where we’ll do the learning and I’ll break down the design process and the WHY behind things, and the second part is where we get to DESIGN, through a follow-along tutorials.

  • If you purchase the entire Summer Design Club series you will receive access to an online hub that will house all of the content.

  • Lifetime access! (By that I mean, lifetime of the content) Aka, the content won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, and if it does I’ll give you a heads up with lots of leadtime.

  • No, there is no feedback included in these small workshops.

  • There are no refunds. Everything you need to know about this Summer Design Club is listed here, if you have any questions about anything shoot me a DM, I would be happy to help clarify anything for you! @sianricho

I know that you already appreciate good design…

…because you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t, so if you’re ready to come and learn the inner workings of what really makes a piece of fresh, bold, attention-grabbing design, I would friggen LOVE to have you join the clerb. 😎
